The pandemic has seen an inevitable rise in single use plastic waste, which when not disposed of correctly, can have catastrophic results for the environment.

This piece was inspired by The Guardian article, 'More Mask's Than Jelly Fish'.

The endless waste of plastic gloves and disposable masks that is being littered across the country is undoing so much positive change sparked by the Planet Earth series and is once again infecting and replacing our natural world.

After reading the Guardian's article, I wanted created this piece of digital art to raise awareness of the waste as a result of these disposable masks and encourage people to move to using more economical alternatives.

I felt the design need to be photorealistic for the most impact, so I decided to try creating this as piece of hand drawn digital art, using Figma. This was my first time doing this type of art, but it was a really fun process & I was able to achieve what I had I envisaged.
